Bourke Street Mall

CLIENT: MELBOURNE CITY COUNCIL

Bourke Street Mall extent of works was between Elizabeth Street and Russell Street. Bourke Street Mall is the biggest shopping mall in Melbourne with high pedestrian and tram traffic.

The project was constructed in 8 stages to minimise disruption to business and public. Major features of the project included of removal of trees, demolition of existing furniture and on ground public lighting. The new works include bluestone paving, super tram stops, stainless steel furniture, catenary lights and associated conduit work, polished precast concrete seats with fibre optic lighting feature and in-situ polished decorative infill concrete within tram zone.

The works had to be completed within a very tight schedule of 4 months, and had to be coordinated with all major service authorities.

As for all of our projects, occupational health and safety as well as traffic management were given very high priority, due to the amount of activity required to complete this project successfully.
